While EA may not be fixing bugs thousands of fans have complained about, it seems they may finally be listening to some of the early complaints and requests about the game.The Sims 4’s new expansion pack, Realm of Magic, has a compelling premise. Even the introduction of an easy to use tool for altering or creating patterns by it would be huge. Customization has always been a huge part of the Sims, and if EA has more big updates planned around it, we may see something that uses the current system while giving Simmers more creativity. This would be the minimum customization EA could introduce, and it would still be a huge step forward for The Sims 4.Ĭreate-A-Style may be a little more challenging to add without a massive overhaul to the way The Sims 4 handles patterns, but this update means there is hope. While the patterns would be limited, a slider could add the ability to choose its color or colors as well as saturation. Pre-made patterns are the way objects and clothing are currently coded into the game, but it may still be possible to introduce sliders for them. The addition of a tone slider also opens up the potential to bring back something similar to the color wheel from The Sims 3, at the very least.

Make-up is also getting a slider, and although it's unclear if it's for color or intensity, having more control over creativity is an essential part of the Sims franchise. It means this system could be applied to other areas of the game. The introduction of color swatches and sliders for skin tone is huge, and not just because it's more inclusive.
Instead, it went back to having limited colors and patterns per item and clothing with no option to change them other than through modded content. It meant having thousands of options to choose from, but EA took a step back from this in The Sims 4. Selecting patterns for clothing, accessories, objects, floors, and walls means having wood dresses and plaid tables if you wish to, but even better, you could also change each pattern's layer's color. It gave players the option to make almost anything the way they wanted. The Sims 3 Create-A-Style and color wheel has long been something Simmers have wanted to be introduced into The Sims 4.
